Information Bulletin: Heavy afternoon showers and thundershowers

Issuance time: 3:45 p.m.

Western and southern areas of Trinidad can expect moderate to heavy afternoon showers and thundershowers as a result of localized instability. These conditions are expected persist for the next 2-4 hours.

Light low level winds, intense daytime heating and strong upper level divergence over the area has combined to produce widespread convective actviity over the islands. This has lead to the development of showers and thundershowers mainly over western and southern areas of Trinidad. some of these showers may continue into the early part of tonight.

Street and/or flash flooding and the occasional gusty winds are likely in the vicinity of heavy showers/thundershowers.

Citizens are advised to be vigilant and cautious as they conduct their daily activities given forecast weather conditions. Be alert to any electrical discharges from thundercloud activity.

WE STRONGLY UNDERSCORE THAT TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO IS NOT UNDER ANY TROPICAL STORM THREAT, WATCH OR WARNING AT THIS TIME.
