Western and North Western Trinidad to experience showery and thundery
In its 1:30 p.m. Information Bulletin, the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has advised that over the next three to four hours, the western and north western parts of Trinidad may be affected by local unstable conditions which may manifest in overcast skies with occasional showers and isolated thundershowers. Gusty winds (in excess of 50 km/h), street/flash flooding and electrical discharges may occur as a result of this activity. Landslides and landslips are also possible in areas so prone.
The ODPM, as the coordinator and manager of emergencies has alerted the first responder agencies (TT Fire Service, TT Defence Force and the municipal corporations) to render immediate assistance if required.
We continue to remind citizens that if they are impacted by any weather condition or hazard, they must contact their municipal corporation or 800 6376.
We also reiterate the following:-
- Be extra vigilant and cautious at this time
- Elevate valuables and place important documents in sealed containers or bags
- Do not walk / drive through flood waters
- Secure items around your home that can become missiles during strong winds
- Be cautious when walking / driving along hillsides
We continue to underscore that Trinidad and Tobago is not under any Tropical Storm threat, watch or warning.
