TROPICAL STORM DORIAN FLUCTUATES IN STRENGTH
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has advised via an official statement on Monday 26th August, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. that Tropical Storm Dorian is fluctuating in strength.
The TTMS indicated that the National Hurricane Centre, Miami continues to issue advisories on Tropical Storm Dorian, currently located near 12.7N 58.8W or about 95 km southeast of Barbados. Dorian is moving west-northwest at 22 km/h. Over the last 12 hours Dorian has tended to fluctuate in intensity and organization. However, over the last few hours, Dorian has showed signs of becoming better organized.
The TTMS advised that this system is forecast to slowly strengthen over the next few days and could be near hurricane strength upon entering the Caribbean Sea.

ON THE CURRENT FORECAST TRACK, THIS SYSTEM POSES NO DIRECT THREAT TO TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO.
Numerical prediction models at this time have this system affecting the islands of the Central Lesser Antilles from late Monday into Tuesday.
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) would like to caution all members of the public who may be travelling for business or pleasure to the Windwards and Leewards islands to take notice of the watches and warnings in effect.
Citizens should continue to monitor the website and social media profiles of the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service and the ODPM for weather forecasts, alerts, warnings and cancellations. Visit http://www.metoffice.gov.tt or www.odpm.gov.tt.
