
The Community Food Resilience Toolkit (ComFORT) is a grassroots initiative aimed at strengthening food security and emergency preparedness in Trinidad and Tobago. This toolkit was developed by Mr. Kwesi Callender and executed by the Trincity Community Council with support from the following:
- The U.S. Department of State
- U.S. Embassy – Trinidad and Tobago
- Meridian International Centre
- Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM)
- Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government Disaster Management Units (MoRDLG, DMUs)
- Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts
- United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)
ComFORT is designed to equip communities with practical tools, knowledge, and partnerships to respond effectively to food disruptions caused by disasters. Once implemented, this toolkit will:
- Reduce reliance on national relief systems
- Improve response speed and coordination
- Ensure equitable food distribution
- Strengthen partnerships between residents, businesses, and disaster agencies
