On Thursday 23rd January 2025 the CEO of the ODPM, Maj Gen (Retired) Rodney Smart, hosted a United States Embassy Mission at the National Emergency Operations Centre in Tacarigua. The visit’s main purpose was to introduce Mr. Jeff Cernyar, the new Mission Disaster Relief Officer of the US Embassy, to the ODPM’s Leadership Team.
Mr. Cernyar was briefed on the ODPM’s role and responsibility as the Strategic Disaster Coordinating Agency in Trinidad and Tobago. The meeting also discussed proposals for future collaborations, such as training courses and activities with the US Embassy, including unifying efforts when a disaster strikes.
In addition to Mr. Cernyar, the party included the US Chief Military Liaison Officer, Commander Richard Reyes, Lt Cdr Kyle Durrant, and Ms Arlene Alexander-Simon.
