Today, Friday 13th October 2023, the ODPM participated in a meeting with Her Excellency, Ambassador and Plenipotentiary Tania Diego Olite; Mr. Julio J. Cabada Ferrera, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Trinidad and Tobago; Mr Luis Angel Macareno Veliz, 2nd Chief of the National General Staff of the Cuban Civil Defence; and Ms. Danai Rivera Valdez, Officer of the National Staff of the Cuban Civil Defence.
Discussions focused on the potential for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the fields of disaster risk prevention, response and recovery, as well as possible opportunities for collaboration within the region. Additionally, the session highlighted ongoing work pertaining to the project on early warning for disaster risk reduction, presented by Cuba to the Association of Caribbean States (ACS).
