Media Release: Close of relief operations for St Lucia and St Vincent

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) wishes to express its gratitude to the people of Trinidad and Tobago, volunteers, private sector entities, NGOs and the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago who have demonstrated extreme selflessness and generosity over the last month. Citizens across the country answered the call to provide aid to our Caribbean neighbours in St Lucia and St Vincent who were devastated by flooding during the 2013 Christmas Season.

The final shipment of relief items from the ODPM will leave the port of Port of Spain on Friday, January 17th, 2014 and we would at this time like to announce that we will no longer be receiving donated items.

Persons still wishing to lend a hand can make direct contact with the national disaster offices of St Lucia (+1-758-452-3802) and St Vincent (+1-784-456-2975) for more information.

Again, the ODPM thanks the public, its volunteers, the private sector, NGOs and the GORTT for their support in rendering assistance to our Caribbean neighbours in need.
