Area of Disturbed Weather Remains Disorganised Over the Windward Islands

According to the 4:00 pm Information Bulletin released by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service, a very broad area of disturbed weather over the Windward Islands associated with the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) remains disorganised; however, thundershower activity continues to exist to the North and Northeast of Trinidad and Tobago.

There is the possibility of showers and thundershowers overnight into tomorrow morning. Heavy downpours can yield moderate street or flash flooding and may be accompanied by gusty winds. Gradual improvement in weather conditions will occur as the day progresses tomorrow 28th August 2013.

The ODPM, in its role as the coordinator of emergencies/crises has already alerted the first responder agencies so that assistance can be rendered to affected persons. The ODPM will continue to monitor the situation and any updates from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service will be communicated to the public. Citizens are asked to remain vigilant and are reminded to contact 511 if they have been adversely affected.

The ODPM continues to remind citizens of the following:-

· Be extra vigilant and cautious at this time

· Elevate valuables and place important documents in sealed containers or bags

· Look out for collapsed pavements and fallen rocks

· Do not walk / drive through flood waters

WE WISH TO UNDERSCORE THAT AT THIS TIME TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO IS NOT UNDER ANY TROPICAL STORM THREAT, WATCH OR WARNING.
