Heavy rainfall affecting Trinidad and Tobago; persons urged to delay travel until floods have subsided

The heavy rainfall being experienced by Trinidad and Tobago is attributed to the passage of a Low Pressure system in the Mid Atlantic and has resulted floods in western parts of Trinidad. Rainfall is expected to continue into the evening but will lessen in intensity in the next 1-2 hours.

Citizens are therefore urged to delay transportation out of Port of Spain until flood waters have subsided. Those affected are asked to contact the ODPM’s customer care centre at 511.

First responders are on alert and the situation and the ODPM continues to monitor the situation. Trinidad and Tobago is currently not under any tropical storm threat, watch or warning.
