Bulletin#1 - Tropical Depression # 7 forms in the Central Atlantic Ocean

TROPICAL DEPRESSION #7 FORMS IN THE CENTRAL
ATLANTIC OCEAN


At 5:00 p.m. on Thursday 9th August 2012, Tropical
Depression No. 7 formed to the East of the Lesser
Antilles. 

The centre of this system is located near
Latitude 13.7 North and Longitude 47.2 West or
about 1495 km east of the Windward Islands. 

The Depression is moving toward the West near 32
km/h and this general motion is expected to
continue during the next 48 hours.



Maximum sustained winds are near 55 km/h with
higher gusts. Computer models indicate that some
strengthening is expected over the next 48 hours
and it could become a Tropical Storm later
today.

On its present track and forward speed, this
Tropical Depression poses NO immediate threat to
Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and its
dependencies. However the general public is
advised to monitor the movement of Tropical
Depression #7 through media reports as the
depression moves closer to the islands of the
Eastern Caribbean.



Repeating the present position of Tropical
Depression#7: Latitude 13.7 North and Longitude
47.2 West or about 1495 km east of the Windward
Islands. 

WE WISH TO UNDERSCORE THAT AT THIS TIME TRINIDAD
AND TOBAGO AND GRENADA AND ITS DEPENDENCIES ARE
NOT UNDER ANY TROPICAL STORM THREAT, WATCH OR
WARNING.



The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service is
monitoring this system and will issue an update
at 6:00 pm today or earlier if the situation
warrants.
