New Year Greetings from the ODPM
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) will like to take this opportunity to extend New Year Greetings to all.
The year 2011 was marred by many hazard impacts; mainly that of flooding and fires, the ODPM as well as our first responder agencies worked tirelessly to help those impacted. Therefore we will like to especially wish all first responders a Happy New Year as we continue to look forward to working together to serve the needs of all. We also wish to take this opportunity to remind citizens to kick start their disaster preparedness early in 2012 by stocking their disaster kits and obtaining first aid kits. The goal as always is to build disaster resilience at an individual level, a community level and at a national level.
On this first day of 2012 we wish to remind citizens that the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has advised that the seas will continue to be rough, with waves of 2.5- 3m in open waters and 1.0m in sheltered areas. Please use caution if visiting the beach.
As usual, the ODPM’s office will be available and officers and responders remain on alert, in the event of any unforeseen incident.
