Media Release - THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO LENDS SUPPORT TO DOMINICA IN LIGHT OF THE PASSAGE OF TROPICAL STORM ISAAC

MEDIA RELEASE

Friday 14th September, 2018                                                            4:00 p.m.

THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO LENDS SUPPORT TO DOMINICA IN LIGHT OF THE PASSAGE OF TROPICAL STORM ISAAC

As Tropical Storm Isaac churns towards islands in the northern and western Caribbean, the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GoRTT) through the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) continues to assist our CARICOM brothers and sisters by supporting the operations of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

While the storm has lost some of its intensity, there is still a possibility that it can have an adverse impact on those islands in its path. Thus, the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GoRTT) stands ready to provide the necessary support to our CARICOM neighbours.

The ODPM deployed emergency personnel to Dominica on Wednesday 12th September 2018, to assist with possible pre-impact and post-impact operations.

The ODPM hopes that the formation of four (4) cyclones in the Atlantic within the last two weeks serves as a reminder to all citizens that we are in the peak of the Hurricane Season. All Caribbean islands including Trinidad and Tobago must take hurricane preparedness seriously.

The ODPM encourages all citizens to follow the steps outlined in the Hurricane Preparedness Guide 2018 to “Get Ready and Stay Ready!” available at www.odpm.gov.tt/hurricaneguide.

WE WISH TO UNDERSCORE THAT TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO IS NOT CURRENTLY UNDER ANY TROPICAL STORM THREAT, WATCH OR WARNING.
